3/16/12 - Contractor will substantially complete northbound Sherman Avenue up to Irving Street by the end of March. Soon thereafter, the Contractor will start reconstruction work on the southbound side of Sherman Avenue starting at Fairmont Street and heading north. Watermain installation will continue north of Irving in two weeks. Be aware of new traffic patterns within this period. Welcome to the Sherman Avenue NW Streetscape project website!
The purpose of this project is to establish a balance that is safe for all users by improving pedestrian safety, decreasing the number of travel lanes, adding tree boxes in the center median and on the sidewalks; widening of sidewalks and upgrading of handicapped ramps; replacing street lights and traffic signals, and providing wider lanes to accommodate bicyclists.
